EDINBURGH HOTEL STAFF WIN ‘REAL PEOPLE’ ROLES IN MAJOR ADVERTISING CAMPAIGN
Edinburgh hotel member of staff have been chosen to front a major national advertising campaign for Best Western Hotels after being nominated by fellow employees.
Launching in spring, the group of independently owned and managed hotels’ marketing campaign will be making stars out of a number of employees who go above and beyond the call of duty when it comes to making customers happy.
Alan Lugton (46), conference porter at Edinburgh Capital Hotel were selected for their character and dedication to their roles as well as an exceptional ability to make the hotel feel like a true home for their guests.
Alan Lugton, from Clermistone, is head conference porter at Best Western Edinburgh Capital, and, like Jean, he has a natural ability to make the guests feel special. General manager Alistair Bruce says, “He genuinely cares about the people he looks after and the success of their companies. He makes them feel like part of the family and they come back and back to us.”
The clients, which include Rospa, the Scottish Rugby Union, and BSkyB, appreciate his efforts and he is the member of staff to receive most mentions in guest questionnaires.
“I have a real drive to see people come in and have a successful meeting. I can see it in their faces when they start to relax and that’s what I’m aiming for,” he says. “I have a ‘can do’ attitude and just want to meet and surpass their needs.”
Amanda Rigby, conference manager, who nominated Alan, believes that he was instrumental in the hotel’s recent winning of the prestigious BDRC Conference Survey, voted for by guests. “It’s a big award for us, and I would say it was largely down to Alan,” says Amanda. “He always goes above and beyond to ensure that every client has a great experience. He is a great member of the team, and we all know if he is here then everything will run seamlessly.”
